i am 10 weeks postpardum, breastfeeding, i got my period last month but haven't gotton it this month, i've been noticing a clearish whitish slimy mucus disharge the past few days and today when i was going to the bathroom it was just kind of hanging out of me Question

i've been having a little cramping lately and i should have gotten my period like 10 days ago but i know i'm not pregnant because i haven't had sex yet, please help

Hi! As far as I know, delivery is followed by red/brown discharge that turns into white after a couple of weeks and is considered normal. The cramping is also experienced because of the uterus going back to its previous size. A woman may feel tenderness in the vaginal and breast area.

This is what I learned when I did a little bit of research on my own but have also been told from other women who have already been through it.

Have you had your 6 week check up?

The first period you had could not be your real period (followed by ovulation), just expelling parts of the uterus lining. It is said that this kind of bleeding may appear prior to your first post partum ovulation. Maybe the levels of prolactin are still high and you may be missing your period because of that. How many periods have you had since your delivery? Prolactin levels usually return to the normal range within 6 months after finishing with nursing.

However, I would have the discharge checked. You may have developed bacterial vaginosis or yeast infection since giving birth, so why not see what it is all about. I find that it is better to check it out than go around thinking what it could be.
