17 day old leep procedure and still bleeding

how long will I continue to bleed after my leep exam? I had my leep procedure 17 days ago and still bleeding lightly. I am scheduled to have a total hysto. on Oct. 3, 2006. I want to have some time with my husband before my hysterecomy. What can I do?

Some mild bleeding is normal 3-4 weeks after LEEP. You shouldn’t use any tampons for the bleeding but pantie liners. Nothing should be introduced into vagina during this “healing” period and you shouldn’t even have sex for these 3-4 weeks. The bleeding may be your indicator.

I understand your wish to spend some time with your husband before the surgery but you will be fine after hysterectomy and will be able to have sex. Try not to aggravate the cervical tissue and cause infection.

You may want to discuss with your doctor when would be best to have sex if this is what you had in mind.
