A pill that should improve the quality of life of the people who are infected with HIV was approved on Wednesday by the FDA.

The new treatment includes three previously used medicines combined in one drug that needs to be taken once a day.

The drug was named Atripla and will cost the same as the three drugs would cost separately, which is $1,150.88 for a month supply. Pharmaceutical companies that produce the drug reported it will be on the market in seven days.

The one-drug treatment is beneficial because it defers the need for a regimen of medications. The previous therapy was all about taking three different drugs at the different time of the day with or without food or with water. The new drug should certainly ease the treatment.

However, there’s a catch. The pill is not for everyone affected with HIV but only for the 60% of the affected who suffer from the most common type of virus-HIV-1.
