3 week period and irritation, what's wrong?

my period has lasted 3 weeks so far, and is still going. it's also irritating down there now and starting to worry me, what could be wrong?

Someone else is in the same boat as I am. I am calling my OB tomorrow. At first I was thinking it was just the birthcontrol I was on but I've been on a new birth control for 6 days now and I am still bleeding and I was bleeding for 2 weeks before. Let me know if you find out if there is anything wrong with you.
