4mth old baby, thick brownish throat discharge

My 4 mth old baby boy has just coughed up a thick pink/brownish mucus bulb. He seems to be ok otherwise. Should I be concernerd with the fact that he seems to have brought up blood? I never experienced this with my now 3yr old daughter or even myself.
Can anyone advise whether this is serious enough to take him to the doctor straight away or wait till next week when he has his immunisation?
