I have been in a walking boot for almost 6 weeks. The x-rays show slow healing. I was told that it might heal faster if it were in a cast. So it is totally immoble. What do you think?

I also had a fracture of the 5th metatarsal and am in my 5th week in the Aircast.. the doctor just advised me that the new X-ray shows that it is not healing quickly and suggests that I keep it on for ANOTHER 2 weeks...ugh... because it's a walking boot, I have been WALKING but I find that at the end of the day my foot has swollen quite a bit... hmmm wondering if we really should be walking on it, and if, as you say, a cast would have been faster... hate to depend on people to get me from Point A to Point B....
