| I had the novasure done Dec. 26, 2006. Very light periods compared to what I had, but did gain 10 pounds over just the last month. Someone mentioned water pills, I notice I am not urinating as frequently as I use too. I am also having a problem with some odor, not too bad, but not good either. |

| I had an ablation Oct of 06 due to heavy periods. Of coarse Im one of the lucky ones that it did not work on. I not only continue with heavy periods, Im so lucky I have 2 a month. I had a tubal ligation in Feb 06 after my twins were born but I have tried the Pill to control my bleeding but I have migraines and they only make them worse. So, at 33 I am looking at a Lap assist hyst.. Only thing stopping me is I know several women who gain at least 30pounds afterwards! Im not a small woman. 160. |

| I had an ablation ( Novasure ) in Dec... I have also gained 5 lbs. It isnt thyroid.. I am already on meds for that. I am also haveing VERY severe cramping during periods. My periods are better (not gone) But the cramping is extreme. I am avoiding the Dr because of the cost. But, am worried about the cramping and not happy witht he weight gain. Thanks to many of you I have started the water pills and it has helped a little. |

I had an ablation in 2005 and then 6 months later I had severe cramping. They found since I had my tubes tied previously that they were filling up with fluid and blood. I had to have them out. Now it is 2007 and I have been experiencing terrible cramping and don't know why. I went to the Dr. and had a sonogram but it showed nothing. I am at my wits end. Just take it all out! |

|
|
| I had my surgery scheduled for yesterday. (7-11-07) I went in, went under anesthesia, had a D&C and hystoscopy and then they went to do the ablation and could not complete it due to massive scar tissue in my uterus. My doctor said it could be from my previous 2 c-sections but he has never seen that much nor has he never been unable to perform ablation due to scar tissue. Now I am still recovering from a surgery that was incomplete. Has anyone ever heard of this? |

I recently had endometrial ablation and have gained 6 pounds in just over two weeks. I have had a stable weight for the past 25 years and quickly returned to my pre-pregnancy weight after each of my four kids. I don't diet. I eat healthy foods and get plenty of exercise. I have never gained so much weight so quickly, so I have to believe it is as a direct result of my ablation. Have others of you had weight gain post-ablation? How much and did your weight keep going up or did it taper off after a certain period of time? I'm afraid I've damaged my body forever!!!

After the procedure everything is back to normal. My only problem is weight gain. I was down to 103 before the surgery now I am up to 113. Right i'm not fat but the weight gain is a little depressing once you get used to not having a tummy and wearing a size 2. I was curious if anyone else had gained weight after having an ablation. | |

Boy I sure feel a bit foolish. I consider myself a smart cookie but I sure flunked on this subject.
I had my ablation surgery in February of this yr (2007.) I wish I would have looked at this forum before I decided to go along with it.
I am now 6 months into my surgery and the cramping is getting worse. It first started on one ovary. The doctor told me that an egg will cause the pain while I ovulate and that the pain would go away when I start my menstrual cycle. I don't get menstrual cycles anymore so I've been calendaring my cycles by counting every 28 days to and from cramps.
The pain with the ovary should not be monthly so I hope I won't have pain during my next ovulation. The cramps that feel like labor pains are caused by the fluid in the tube that goes from the ovary to the uterus. Because I also had a tubal and an ablation there is one small sack in my tube that has some discharge. This blood can no longer go down to the uterus because of the ablation so it's stuck with no way out. My doctor will have to monitor it for a while to see if any more blood gets trapped there. The reason there's blood there is because the ablation didn't get to that one small section in the ovarian tube section.
My doctor told me that it could happen that way. I guess I'm that small percentage group of women that this happens to...lucky me. Anyway now we have to monitor the are where there's blood to make sure that it doesn't get any bigger. BUT he said that the cramping comes from that section so I guess I'll cramp monthly unless I decide to get a Hysterectomy. Now I have to deal with pain management. 3 Aleve twice a day starting a couple of days before my period and during plus hydrocodone for really bad days.
Sorry I rambled so long. Let me know if anyone else's doctor has said anything different. |

Hi, I had Novasure performed in 03/2007 and had discharge for a while after, about 4-6 weeks. I too have gained a weight. I am the heaviest that I have ever been. I am 5'10" and was around 165. I now weigh about 183 Lbs. And, yes, it is depressing. My stomach has never been so bloated before. I look pregnant again after 17 years since my son was born. It is driving me crazy. I exercise and get the pulling sensation in my right lower pelvic area and it is painful. The doctor who did the procedure did not tell me about any after effects, and when I asked it just stated that it was 'completely safe', and that I would have no more or very little bleeding. At my follow-up, he did ask if I had had any bleeding. I have to say that I have not bled as of today, 09/23/07, but I still have my ovaries, so I do have cramps and breast tenderness. But, my sex drive seems to have diminished a bit. Wondering if anyone else has had this issue.
Thanks |
