I am one of the ones who continued to have periods although they are very light and only about 3 days. Seems as if my cramping is coming back a little worse each month. I have recently also been experiencing sharp stabbing pains in my lower left and right sides. Sometimes for a couple of days straight to where it hurts to even turn over in the bed. I went to the doctor thinking it was possibly a cyst or something. I learned that sometimes because of the ablation you still bleed but the blood gets stuck in your tubes and basically backs up and causes this pain. I also had cramping before and after each period. My next step now is the laprascopy hysterectomy. Anyone experience these symptoms? |
I have the same result and am having identical symptoms. Is hysterectomy the only solution? And if you don't, what happens then? |

|

| I had the ablation in May 2007 and gained almost 10 lbs. within 3 months. The doctor never mentioned it as a potential side effect beforehand, and said it wasn't a side effect when it happened. In Jan. 2008 a blood test showed abnormal thyroid. After further testing, I was put on Synthroid. I'm wondering if the ablation caused the thyroid to get out of whack, which led to my weight gain. Has this happened to anybody, and have you been able to do anything to lose weight? |

| It will have been a year since my ablation (12/07) and sure, the bleeding is less, but the side effects are worse-I would have never done this if I had been told what to honestly expect. The cramping is so severe I am bedridden, I am good emotionally maybe 10 days out of the month, now this past month I have experienced severe nipple pain-they remain stiff and sore like when your milk was coming in after delivery. And what the heck is a sex drive? I also ended up with bursitis in my hip from being in the stirrups so long. Ladies, don' t do this procedure! Does anyone have any ideas on how to help this misery? |

| I am so glad I found this site. I too had an ablation in June 08 and now in November have put on a good 15-20 lbs. I am depressed, and feeling fat but refuse to buy bigger pants. Is there no answer? |

| Hi I had a thermal ablation in Sept 07, I had 3/4 months of no periods and no pain. Then in Jan 08 I started to have this pain in my left habnd side, it got worse like labour pains, it passed after 2 weeks. In My 08 the pain started in right hand side, down my grioin and in my legs, went to GP who referred me for a scan, whcih showed a blockage, I was admitted for a D & C and eventually the pain eased, i had 2 very bad periods in july and aug, but nothing since. this month I have had severe abdominal pain, breast sorness but no period, has any one experienced this, do you theink the blaockegae to be coming back |

|
|
I'm a 48 year old who had the procedure done in June 2008. I was off work for one day with no complications. My periods have been mild ever since. My weight gain has been 8 pounds so far but I am eating no more than 1200 calories a day and exercising at least 1/2 hour daily. I am experiencing a lot of water retention even though I refrain from sodium, caffeine, processed foods and sugar. I don't know whether to blame the procedure itself or my age (peri-menopause).
A good friend (aged 46) recommended the Novasure ablation to me as she has had great success (done in 2006) . In two years she has gone from 200 pounds to 142 lbs. It's hard to determine what the weight gain is about because it certainly does not apply to her. |

|

HI everyone;
I'm just a guest here but stumbled upon this site when I did a Google search for "failed endometrial ablation".
I can't believe I'm not the only for whom the procedure didn't work and have the crazy cramps and bleeding again!!
I had the Ablation/Tubal done in Sept. 2007; it was great for about 7 or 8 months; then one day I was riding my horse and suddenly felt like my panty liner was soaked; I got off and ran to the bathroom only to see a huge amount of blood (I was freaked out!) It was like my worst period come back to haunt me!
So luckily there was a pad in the barn washroom and I was able to put that on!
So anyway, I went to my Gyn. in June to ask WTF was going on and she suggested I go back on the Pill for a few months to try to 'regulate' things cuz it was like I was getting 2 periods a month; a big one and a small one!
However, that pissed me off cuz the whole reason I'd done the Ablation and Tubal was so I could go OFF the pill!
I'm 36 and never wanted kids but for years was told I couldn't be sterilised lest I "change my mind". They wouldn't do a Hysterectomy on me but now I will probably need one cuz now the bleeding is almost constant and I have BRUTAL cramps! Like the ones I used to have when I was 15 before I went on the pill. They hurt so much and are almost constant.
I didn't have any of the weight gain that many of you complained about and I'm pretty small and athletic (5' 6", 118 lbs) but I do seem to feel more bloated at night since my Ablation and that sucks.
I had an ultrasound done last month and the Dr. determined I have uternine fibroids or cysts. She did an internal exam last week to even check one of the cysts for cancer (so THAT is freaking me out!! since I've had normal Pap tests every year!!).
These constant cramps just started a couple of weeks ago though when for most of the Summer they were just once a month; however now I just want the Hysterectomy that I wish I did last year instead of the Ablation!!! |
