| I've been on depo for 7 yrs and off for 9 months I spot and don't cramp or cramp and no period. Can I get pregnant and how long will it take? Is my cramping and spotting normal? |

I am in the same boat. I was on depo for 6.5 years and stopped to try to get pregnant. I haven't had a period since I stopped,11 months ago. I have a little cramping now and then, but I'm afraid I might be infertile now and will never get pregnant |

Hi
You both need to get fertility blood work done. Talk with a Dr that knows a bit about fertility. Ask about bringing on a period by taking progesterone (provera) for 10 days and then do some testing. It's for your uterus' health that every 60 days, you should have a period.
Be sure to get blood work done, ask to have your thyroid function tested too.
Sounds like you hormones are all wonky and may need a bit of a nudge.
I tried to conceive (ttc) for 4 years before my miracle boy came my way so don't lose hope. With any luck, it won't take as long!
A good book to read is Taking Charge of Your Fertility.
Good luck and if you have any more questions, don't hesitate.

ps, if the Dr doesn't help or won't, go see an accupuncturist, that practices Traditional Chinese Medice; they can often help where Western medicine can't. |

How does the thyroid function affect pregnancy? Will it be difficult to get pregnant when someone has a goiter? |

| Hi, I am having similar concerns. I have had my period since I was 12 and it was always very regular. Now, I have been on the shot for 8 yrs and am only 23, I have been off now for 13 months and still have no period, just last week I started to spot, but it was very dark and only lasted one day. This week I had the same thing...very dark and only one day. I am trying to get pregnant now and have no idea what to do. I have had my thyroid tested and there was nothing, I also started to have some pregnancy symptoms, but have tested negative several times...I have also been trying to track when I will ovulate and have been just as unsuccesful. My Dr. has also recommended that I NEVER go back on depo because I now have bone spurs from my head to tailbone and arthritis all over as a result of being on so long and so young....too bad she didn't warn me BEFORE I started this "wonderful" never-get-your-period birth control. |
