Okay--I did not do well with this surgery. Spent 5 days in the hospital, and have been home on the couch ever since.
I am obsessed with my incision. I am not happy with it. It is 4-5" long and has 14 stitches, which will not be removed until post op day 11! Almost everyone I have encountered who has undergone thyroid surgery has had steri strips and their incision looks great. Those who had stitches had them removed prior to leaving the hospital. I automatically assumed I would have steri strips as well and was shocked to see the railroad tracks running across my lower neck.
What's the deal with sutures vs steri strips?
