98 yr. old woman recently diagnosed with diabetes with jaundice?

As stated above a 98 yr old woman has recently been diagnosed with diabetes (blood sugar 500) has been put on glyazide for 5 days. She remains between 300-450 everyday. She has developed jaundice and the doctors don't seem too concerned. Are diabetes and jaundice ordinarily together? What would cause the jaundice ? Thanks
