ACDF and Hospital Stay

For how long is hospital stay required after ACDF? My mom will have ACDF next week, we asked the doctor, but he wasn’t precise. We are all worried and we would like to be prepared. Nay help will be appreciated. Thank you!

With most cervical spine surgeries (ACDF) patients are up and walking within hours after their procedure, although the walking is very limited. It is no longer necessary, that they lie in bed for days or weeks after surgery. Nurses who are experienced in working with spinal surgery patients will assist her during her first few efforts at getting out of bed and walking. Her doctor will tell her when it is safe to shower after surgery. The nursing staff at the hospital will also show her how to keep the dressing dry and in place to protect the incision while showering.
