My 13 year old son was diagnosed with ADHD/ODD about a month ago. I have the reports from his psychologist and his regular doctor, but I can't get the school counselor, principal or instructional director to listen to me. After trying for a month, I was finally successful in getting an appointment made today. I have been fighting with my son's school for the past 2 years and the problem is that my husband is not supportive on this. His sister my daughter is teenager, 16 and she is also in ‘her own world” doesn’t want to talk about her brother. This is killing our family.
I have a 12 yr old son with ADHD/ODD and I have been dealing with school issues for year too. The latest incident involves the principal grabbing him by the shirt and threatening him. The school is very well aware of my son's ADHD/ODD and the issues he is having. My husband and I have suffered so much emotional stress from all of the issues that are school related; I am not sure what to do anymore. This is the heavy problem for any family to deal with. And it is killing us too.
