What environmental factors have potential effect on development of confusion and altered alertness? How important age is in memory loss? I’m thinking about dementia and real pathological conditions. My grandmother maybe has Alzheimer’s disease, but they are still not absolutely sure about that. She’s 66 years old and in good shape for her age. Do some medications have role in development of dementia?

Alzheimer disease is common in elderly people. Taking too many medications may lead to memory loss and mental confusion, and also alcohol and drugs interactions. Environmental factors are low oxygen or exposure to carbon monoxide. Pathological conditions like asthma decreases amount of oxygen in blood, cardiac problems reduces circulation, kidney problems cause increased level of toxins in blood, and these diseases are commonly present in old people. Alzheimer’s disease can not be cured, but some forms of dementia are reversible.
