It could be but it is most likely connected to the menopause. Haven’t you though of that?
Didn’t you experience any other strange and debilitating symptoms many women suffer from at the onset on menopause: weight gain, moodiness, depression, hot flashes, night sweats, sleeping problems, irritability and things like that?

These symptoms are every perimenopausal woman’s nightmare. They usually start when periods start being irregular, which means that the production of sexual hormones have decreased and that the woman is not ovulating regularly anymore. Lack of estrogen causes these awful symptoms.

How old are you anyway? Ovarian cysts may cause some menstrual irregularities but they also cause pain during ovulation and periods, bleeding between periods, etc
