Hello! A low grade of Abnormal Cells could be indicating two things. One of them could be mild pre-cancerous changes on the cervix and another could be cell changes produced by HPV. There are different strains of HPV virus, some cause warts while others don’t and those others may represent a risk for developing cervical cancer.
Your gynecologist should have explained what s/he meant with low grade of abnormal cells. If there are any other abnormalities, you will be said to come again in 6 months and have colposcopy. Many women with low grade abnormalities are found to be abnormalities-free after 6 months time. Only if the change becomes too apparent or if it deteriorates, you may undergo treatment.
If you have been found to have HPV virus, you should know that the virus is contagious and that you could pass it to your partner. In case of cervical dysplasia, I reckon you can have sex but I don’t know for sure. I was found to have low grade changes by HPV but I haven’t been told anything about sex, which probably means it is ok. |
