Will acupuncture help me with my hypertension? I am on prescribed meds for my hypertension, but they don’t work for me. Maybe I’ll be better with alternative approach such as acupuncture or herbal treatment? What do you think? I am 50, female.

I know that Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine are playing a very important role in the management of hypertension. The elevated blood pressure and symptoms are regarded as the superficial aspect of a deeper underlying health condition, so the treatment is not just to eliminate or alleviate the symptoms, but rather treat the underlying cause, and to have prevention -oriented, holistic approach for hypertension patients. The partnership between the patient and practitioner is extremely important, so find a good one.
