Hello, guys. I am having a certain trouble with herpes zoster. I should start with using acyclovir. I would like to know something more about this drug. It would be great if someone could tell me something about its usage. I would really appreciate all your help. Thank you in advance. Bye!

Hello. Acyclovir is a standard treatment for herpes zoster. It cannot eliminate virus, unfortunately. On the other hand, it prevents the replication of the virus and its spreading. It is usually used from 7 to 10 days. It can be used 5 times daily. There are newer drugs like famciclovir or valaciclovir. It is believed these drugs are even more efficient. In any case, you should consult with your doctor for the proper use of these medications. Good luck!
