This is my 3rd bartholin experience. Was marsupialised after 1st cyst/abscess in 1995 though no one explained what the procedure was at the time. No alternatives were offered & I was unaware any were available. Had a barth. abscess June 2007, GP prescribed antibiotics but it burst at home after a few days extreme pain. No follow-up exam. Felt small lump at site which I assumed was scar tissue. Could it be that the abscess did not drain properly & thereby cause this 3rd one ? This one erupted 3 days ago, labia 3 times usual size within hrs. GP gave me anti-B`s . It burst at home yesterday & approx 2 tsp. pus & blood out. Seems to have stopped excreting but how can I be sure there`s no more still in there! It still feels hard & lumpy though labia now almost normal size. My GP said not to go back for a month unless swelling doesn`t go/rturns. I DON`T want to go through this again if I can do anything to help prevent it- PLEASE ADVISE. Rolling Eyes
