Hi, I have been prescribed to use Aldactone for PCOS. At first, it didn’t really sound logical to me. But, now I started to use it. What can I expect?

Aldactone contains spironolactone, that is a diuretic. Spironolactone gets rid of excess salt and water in the body. It also affects androgen level in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). This affects reduction in male-pattern hair growth (hirsutism), hair loss, and acne, which are all seen in women with PCOS. If there is also a disorder in menstrual cycle, birth contro pills can be added to treatment. Many women with PCOS see improvement in excess hair growth as they apply spironolactone. But, it may take some time, even up to 6 months of daily use for full effectiveness.
