Sleeping problems occur most often in people who suffer from depression and anxiety, congestive heart failure, as well as those who suffer from hypotension and obesity but to lower extent.

The new founding say that sleeping troubles are most common in 45- to 54-year-olds and then for those older than 85 although previous studies suggested that insomnia was more prevalent in the elderly.

Around 5% of people who suffered from insomnia turn to alternative treatments avoiding traditional drugs. Among the alternative treatments, the most popular were herbal therapies and relaxation techniques.
Out of those 1.6 million people, only 60% admit to their doctors that they are using both Western and alternative medicine to ease their problems.
Those who use the alternative treatments are usually young people and those well educated.

Scientists are putting an effort to researching the efficiency of the alternative medicine therapies in sleeping disorders.
