A new study published online in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology has been investigating the effects of anxiety during pregnancy on the fetus.

Pregnant women who participated in the study haven’t been diagnosed with psychiatric conditions like panic disorders or generalized anxiety disorders but suffered from increased anxiety in general or in relation to pregnancy or parenting issues.

The study results show that these negative feelings had no negative impacts on the fetuses. The researchers were looking at birth weight, gestational age at delivery, labor length, the use of pain medication during labor and general health of the infant.

None of the issues have been impacted by the anxiety felt by women during their pregnancies and all the children turned out just fine.
However, the researcher state they can’t tell if anxiety had any affects on the issues that were not evaluated in the study.
