Hello, I am trying to help my kid as much as possible and that includes finding out why he is allergic to penicillin. Thank god there are so many different meds today so we can easily compensate for that allergy but I am still curious. Anybody knows why some people develop penicillin allergy?

Well, penicillin as most of the other medications has certain substances in its structure that are not well taken by some organisms. And there are different factors that can cause that kind of allergy. Sometimes it is hereditary, sometimes the immune system was not fully developed, and sometimes even stress can be the source of the allergy. So, definite cause is not yet established, and unfortunately we can only subdue the symptoms for now.
