I found out recently about a psychological 'glitch' a friend of mine has. She calls it a mind rift, but I'm not sure what it is and I've studied quite a bit of psychology.

She occasionally has episodes where she starts moving involuntarily, like tics: head movements, clicking her fingernails together. Then after that sets in, she begins to feel an intense emotion, something like despair, but not sure, I can only interpret from what I see as she is unsure what the feeling is, and begins weeping from the pain of it uncontrollably.

She has an internal dialogue about it that kind of causes a conflict in her as well. Like, she says part of her wants to do it and another part of her doesn't. She says it's always been there, but she didn't realize it and it confuses her and freaks her out. Weird thing is, it freaks her out because it's there and she doesn't know what it is, but she thinks it happens because it freaks her out... like it creates itself within her.

Last time this happened she got a nosebleed from the intensity of the emotion...

Anyone have any idea what this could be?

Thanks in advance.
