Hello Guys,
The surgery went very well and I am pleased. I can see the reduction after two weeks and my speech and confidence in my outer appearance has greatly improved after only two weeks. There is only a small amount of swelling where the dissolvable stitches were but that will be gone in no time. What I am about state is pure honesty and sincerity not promotion. But if you would like a pain-free and successful surgery that you will be pleased with; I would highly recommend Dr. Samuel Lam at Lam Facial Plastics. Him and his staff are so courteous and comforting they will make you feel like family. They are truly a world-class team! He has a couple of video's on YouTube for lip reduction, check them out if you don't believe me.......
Take care and God Bless!

Well it is 7 months after the surgery and it looks the same. My bottom lip is still droopy so I am going back to the surgeon in two weeks to have it redone! Hopefully it will extremely be reduced to the point THAT I WANT IT. I will keep you informed on the second surgery. To the forum participants, don't give up. If your physical appearance is limiting your confidence and/or social progression in life get it done. Do not pay attention to what anyone says. It is only flesh, flesh can be altered it's your heart and spirit that holds the greatest weight.
Love you guys take care! | |

[quote="Adam91"] | Quote: | Hey all, I'm a 17 year old Asian male from Covina California. Ever since I was little I've had big lips, even in my photos when I was 1 I had bigger lips then my brothers when they were 5-6. My lips hang when they are a relaxing state. I never noticed them throughout my elementary years because they looked natural and I was content with that. But as soon as puberty hit, my lips started widening and getting really really thick. Up until about eight grade I started seeing myself in the mirror and thinking, wow I'm ugly. So I started tucking them in, everyday to make the appear thinner. Everything was going fine and I started becoming more confident with myself. I got a girlfriend that lasted about a year, but every time I smiled she'd tell me I kind of look like a clown.

Can I first say how amazed I am to find that the internet has so many forums to help people seeking advice on many different subjects. I stumbled across this one whilst looking for a plastic surgeon in the UK who performs lip reduction surgery and I am so happy to have found this website to find like minded people who are in the same situation as myself.
Adam91 – much of what you wrote reminds me of myself and I thank you for your honesty in sharing your blog. I remember as a child using sellotape to tape up my lower lip which is droopy. I too was teased in/outside of school but not just for the size of my lips!
I am of mixed parentage and in my late 30’s and feel my lack of self esteem has increased over the years. I think this has partly to do with the environment I work in where everyone seems hung up on their appearance. Teeth whitening seems to be the norm! I use to wear glasses 4 days of the week and contact lenses the rest. Last year I had the opportunity to undergo Laser Surgery and correct my long sightedness. This year I started invisaline to correct the space in the centre of my top teeth and am currently having IVF treatment. It’s been a stressful year and a half!! I’m now thinking about lip reduction once my invisaline treatment is complete which will be at the end of August. The feedback on this site from those of you that have undergone this treatment seems to be mixed so I’m really not sure whether or not I should proceed.
There are days when I feel confident about myself and days where I can feel really ugly. I feel the whole world is staring at me but I tell myself to hold my head up high and be proud of who I am but if I am not happy about the way I look then how can I expect others to be? The treatments I’ve had so far have put a little confidence back into my life but I believe with a lip reduction I will be a lot happier. I think it is true that one should do what they feel would make them happy and not listen to what other people say because at the end of the day if something is making you so unhappy that it starts to affect your physical/mental wellbeing then you need to do something about it.
I wish all of you the very best in whatever you long for!
