Artificial Cervical Discs-How long do they last/

Hi, can you tell me how long artificial cervical disc usually last? What is it made of? I am going to have artificial cervical discs surgery, and I need to know all those things.

Hi, my mother had an artificial cervical disc surgery 10 months ago. I think that her disc is made of titanium with a polyurethane nucleus. She had to get an artificial disc, because of the injury she sustained in a car accident. This injury caused limited movements of her neck, and it was very difficult to wait for the surgery. She also had severe pain in that area, which couldn’t be completely relieved with meds. This pain was reduced after the surgery when they limited the movements in the spine with putting an artificial cervical disc. Unfortunately, you can’t know precisely how long it is going to last. Hopefully, it will last a lifetime but the chances for that are probably very small.
