I have to start taking Augmentin because of urinary infection. I’ve never used this drug before, there were some other drugs that I was using in infections of urinary system, but I’ve heard that this one works well. As I use pills for birth control, I need information on its interaction. Does Augmentinaffect concentration of birth control pills? Thanks.
It can, Augmentin affects and decreases effect of birth control pills. You’ll need second method of protection. Augmentin is combination of amoxicillin and clavulanate. It fights bacteria in urinary infection very effective. I had to use Augmentin because of same problem, but developed yeast infection that needed additional treatment. Yeast infections are not uncommon consequences of antibiotics treatment.
