Hi! First, my doctor diagnosed me otitis media. After I had hair lose on second ear he diagnosed Autoimmune inner ear disease. Tell me more about this disease. What is treatment for AIED? This is very difficult for me. Is there any hope for me?
Hi! I had same disease as you. I use of hearing aids, so I can hear something loud. Autoimmune inner ear disease is an inflammatory condition of the inner ear. It occurs when the body's immune system attacks cells in the inner ear that are mistaken for a virus or bacteria. You probably have treatment of steroids, prednisone, and methotrexate, a chemotherapy agent. If drug therapy doesn’t help and hearing loss persists, a cochlear implant maybe considered.
