Azathioprine for anemia

My son was diagnosed with autoimmune hemolytic anemia and also with rare hemoglobinopathy, which may have been coincidental. His doctor told me that my sons disease is very rare in first few months of life in children. However, we started with corticosteroid therapy, but it was partially effective. Now, one of the doctors thinks that azathioprine could help. What do you think?

A friend of mine, who is a doctor (pediatrician, in fact) and who recently comes from Switzerland told me something about anemic patients. He managed to cure children with the same diagnose as your son have (autoimmune hemolytic anemia with rare hemoglobinopathy). Maybe you should talk with your sons doctor and ask him about this. Maybe those doctors in Switzerland do make changes in curing anemia.
