My cousin suffered from fractured sternum from trauma as well. The problem with him was that he didn’t want to go to a doctor. We tried to persuade him by telling about all the possible complications regarding lungs but it took us more that a month to take him there. He suffered from pain and the doctors gave him some pain revealing drugs and he had to have physical therapy. At first, he needed to rest but then he went back to normal activities and they advised him to limit his physical activities.

I think it all depends on the severity of your fracture. Bones take long time to heal, 1,5-6 months approximately.

I read somewhere that you should be guided by your pain. If it starts to hurt what ever you do, you should stop.

Hope you get better soon!
