Benign colon surgery

Dr. said I have to have Laparsocpic colon surgery, because I just have one polyp that he couln't remove because it was on the wall of the colon.

he said it is flat against the wall and it about 1c/m. He said it is benign.
He said he tried to scrape at it but didn't want to damage my colon.

How long would I have to stay in the hospital and how long will I have to be out of work.

He said it is less painful to do it this way.

This is my first and only polyp. i am 59 years old and in good health otherwise. Should I get a second opinion.

is there another alternative to surgery?
