Hi. I have a 12 years old sun with leaukemia and I want to help him out and treat him the best I can. Currently I am trying to find some information on the best diet for him because I know nutrition, vitamins and minerals are essential for him to fight this disease. I would really appreciate any tips, references or comments… Thank you very much for your help.

I had leukemia and I myself had to stick with a low microbial diet. That means that you should not have any raw fruits and veggies and you should boil or steam everything you give him to eat. All meat must be overcooked, and when giving him fruits be sure to give him only the ones with thick skins (orange, banana, grapefruit). Also, forget about ANY KIND OF FAST FOOD!!! Also, same thing applies to what he drinks – he shouldn’t drink anything that’s been out in the open for more than 20 minutes. I think that’s all… At least that I know of. I whish you both the best and I hope your boy will get over it eventually. They very often do during puberty.
