Investigators in the department of psychology at the University of Amsterdam suggest us to sleep on our biggest decisions, so that our unconsciousness can do the work for us.

Don’t forget to gather all the necessary information first, so that unconsciousness will have something to work on. Bid decisions include buying a car or a house and such decisions should certainly be left to rest while those everyday, trivial decisions like what to buy for lunch should be dealt by consciousness and require no sleeping on it.

Results from the recent studies show that unconscious deliberation leads to more satisfying choices for major decisions while conscious deliberation is fine for the less important, everyday choices.

Researchers found several possible reasons for explaining the difference between consciousness’ and unconsciousness’ choice making. It appears that consciousness has a low and unconsciousness higher capacity to integrate more information, which usually leads to better choices.
