Birth control and dysplasia

I`ve been taking birth control pills for about 4 years, but recently i quit taking them, because my sister told me that they can sometimes cause cervical dysplasia. I’m afraid that something gone bad. Please tell me something about dysplasia.

Well, don’t be afraid until you see your gynecologist. You should do a routine check. I’m sure everything going to be just fine. Birth control pills contain estrogen and progestin, which could sometimes cause changes on you organs. Changes on cervix cells are cervical dysplasia. They can sometimes happen if you have infection. They can also occur after traumatic sex. Sometimes cervical dysplasia leads to cervical cancer. Synthetic estrogen is believed to cause cervical dysplasia. You could always try another birth control methods.
