I'm only 18, and I get bladder problems pretty often, and have been for just over a year now. I'm sexually active And also a very clean person, like I shower at least once a day and stuff, but my doctor just told me that sometimes people are more prone to infections then others. She put me on a preventative for 6 months, but I stopped taking it because I’m also on birth control. My boyfriend and I have been together for almost 9 months, so basically I would rather have another bladder infection then get pregnant. Am I wrong? What can I do?

I've struggled with UTI for several years and also had bladder problems, E-coli the culprit. I recently changed to MD that was very frank with questions regarding activities boyfriend and me. At his advice, we have become very careful during certain positions of intercourse - in particular, "doggie". He used to love to tease me around the opening prior to vaginal entry and since he stopped that foolishness, my infections have decreased. My MD explained that if I plan to fool around with #2, use a condom and remove prior to vaginal play. This helped me... maybe you’ll find it useful.
