Bladder cancer in a very young person?

Hi, my friend is 22 years old and he called me yesterday to tell me that he is very worried and he thinks that he has bladder cancer. I was very surprised at first and I thought it was some kind of joke but when I hear his serious voice I knew it was serious. He told me that he was urinating blood and he feels strong pain in his lower abdomen. I don't know what to think.

Hi, it is very difficult to say if your friend has cancer or not. In that age there are few things beside bladder cancer which may cause blood in urine. He is probably sexually active person so he could get some sexually transmitted disease. Also urinary infections are not so rare and it may cause similar symptoms. However your friend need to see doctor and make analyses.
