I'm scared to death. I've had blood appear in the toilet last three times I have went and passed a bowel movement. The blood amount was what I'd call quite a bit, but then again I'm deathly afraid of blood, and the sight of it makes me panic and scares me so much. I wipe and there is blood on the toilet paper, but only for a few wipes (2-3). Today when I went I looked in and there was no blood after my first peice of poop, but after a bit I saw a little blood in the toilet, (looked like a lot to me though. ._.). Is there anything at all I can do without visiting a doctor? I have been eating more fiber lately. I use to have constipation a lot. Also, I'm a 16 year old male...

May I just say that you MUST get to a doctor. I was bleeding with each BM for years on and off and daily for the last several months. I ended up in the ER on the verge of chronic heart failure from ANEMIA from the daily bleeding. I ended up getting 4 blood transfusions before they would even look at my bottom.

I am the mother of an active teen and could not "take the time" or suffer the embarrassment of having someone look at my hemorroids. I have had colitis for years and have a regular GI doctor but again, I was a bit ashamed as I "thought" I ate enough fiber but did not want to be looked at as "lazy" or as a "poor eater".

So, after over a week of testing (colonoscopy, endoscopy, etc.) and the blood (thank you people who donate blood) I finally saw a surgeon who said I had no choice as these things were literally killing me. It has been 6 days and I kept wondering why I was not healing faster. Wow, thank you folks for sharing your stories as now I can show mu husband I am not weak or crazy but that it will be a while before I am "up and running".

I hate asking for help (my husband is a reservist who has spent most of the last 5 years overseas and I RARELY asked for any help!) But now I am forced to ask for help. I can not drive my daughter to school (a one hour round trip) or clean the house or even sit for long without an ice pack!

BTW, a bag of corn (I hated using that expensive organic corn but it works great!) in a Ziploc and then in a pillow case works fabulous, it does not get wet like ice and it refreezes quickly. It really helps after a BM or whenever I am feeling uncomfortable (which is a lot). My doctor suggested Desitin for the area around the anus and that helps a lot also. I use the hairdryer to dry my bottom after any time of sitting (even to pee) and use a cotton ball to cover the anus itself. It absorbs any blood, etc. and helps keep the chafing feeling down.

I will keep reading here as this seems to be the best place for the best info and really feel like I am among kindred folks.
Thanks.

Do you have pain in your buttocks when you pass your stool? If so, you could have hemorrhoids or the bowels are too thick and scrape against your skin.

However, since you see blood on the stool, you may want to see a doctor. Sorry to say this, since you don't like doctors, but blood in the stool is a serious matter. See a doctor soon.

Yes there is pain. I went today and felt a bit of pain, but there was no blood this time because I tried not to strain and have been getting a lot of fiber, drinking liquids, and getting exercise. I can feel it on the left side of my "hole" or whatever you want to call it.

Okay, what's probably happening then is you were dehydrated and not getting enough fiber, so the stool was too thick and hard. Because of this, it scraped against your skin, causing bleeding. Then, after every other time of having a bowel movement, the scab in your buttocks would get scraped off, causing worse bleeding. It's a common and annoying problem. Just keep up the fluid and fiber intake.
