Bleeding and possible pregnancy

I spotted, brownish in color, last week. Then, about 4 days later, I started bleeding more. It was both light red and dark and lasted less than 24 hours. It was heavy enough to wear a tampon. I'm not sure if I started my period or not. Right now, my breast are tender and I have low cramps. Am I pregnant or making this all up???
