Posted: 08/30/07 - 16:04 Post subject: Plugged and ringing ear, dizzy, off balance. |
|
|
| That is so true about the sternocleimastoid and the trigger points. 4 yrs ago, my ears plugged up and I felt off balance or dizzy. Then my ears started ringing. I felt like my head was in a fog and I could not think clearly. I couldn't focus or concentrate, felt like I was losing my mind. I have gone to numerous ENTs, neurologists and even a neuromuscular dentists over the past 4 yrs. All the tests came back normal and the docs said I should just accept it and learn to live with it. Three of the 7 ENTs suggested I had meniere's disease (not the case). I had 2 MRIs and 3 different types of surgery and nothing worked. Finally, I have found trigger point therapy to give me relief this year. I never even knew where the sternocleidomastoid was located or the problem that trigger points in this area could cause. The lateral pterygoids and sternocleidomastoid were the cause of my issue. |

| Hi. I am posting months after the board seems to have stopped. The person who suggested you might have Meniere's Didsease is absolutely correct...and you seem to have ignored it. It is a condition that produces every symptom you have -- although I don't know about the pressing on your neck. One can get so absorbed with their synptoms they start "playing" with their bodies. There is an old saying: never look down your own throat. It always looks bad. Rather than finding new things, you ABSOLUTELY MUST visit one or two ENT's who sepcialize in "Vestibular Disorders" (balance problems) such as BPPV and Menniere's Disease. There are special tests they sometimes use, including audiology, rotational chair and ECOG. If they don't do any of those, you havethe wrong physician. Check your local teaching hospitals and the web fo specialists in this area. Keep salt down to an absolute minimum, no caffeine, no stress. And good luck! |

Hi all,
It's been a while since anyone posted in this forum.. I hope you are all ok...
I got this symptons too and I'm a bit scared...
Like some of you my GP has given me the nose spray and completely ignored the fact that my father suffers from meniers disease.. he didn't recomend any specialist just told me to take the spray and said it would take 2 weeks but I don't think hes getting the whole picture..
This is going on for like 2 months but lately due to the vertigo and the "twilight zone" feeling I've been geting this panic attacks too.. The strange thing is that this happens mostly when I'm at work maybe because I don't feel confortable enough to deal with the vertigo and I panic..
I'm goint to see an ANT this week but I would like to know if you guys have any news on this condition so I can throw some stuff at him if he tells me its sinusus or something like that..
Any help would be apreciated,
Thanks |

It's a small relief to know my symptoms aren't unique! 12 weeks ago I had strange optical disturbances, flashing rings in one eye. I thought it was optical migraine (even though at 51 I've never had any before). It returned the next day, but after 2 days sleep, I feel a lot better. A week later, the symptoms of labyrithitis came on (falling over, room spin) and the docs gave me anti-biotics for a suspected inner-ear infection, then betahistine. 2 weeks on, things seemed to be clearing up, then hissing in the ears grew, "fullness" of the ears and a pressure on the back of my head began. They are still present and if anything, seem to be worsening, but it may be that my resistance is going - I'm seriously depleted by now.
I've been to hospital for ultrasound, CAT scan, hearing test, ECG. One doctor said "menieres, come back in two months", another said "nonsense, you've got sleepapnia". Nne have prescribed anything. They all seem pretty vague (fair enough, it's a hidden problem) but I'm REALLY struggling to deal with the pressure on my head. I've had mild tinnitus for years (too much rock guitar) and could deal with it, but it's like the onset of a headache all the time, even though it's not what I'd call pain. My eustachians have been declared clear, although blowing my nose or swallowing does give a slight and brief relief. Could there be eustachian tube disorder without the normal test showing it?
If nothing else, I'm reading your posts carefully for any new hints or possibilities. Middle age, wonderful innit. |

I have been reading the posts on this site. I would suggest that anyone having problems with sinus, ear pressure, dizziness please check out an UNCCA chiropractor. He works on the bone in the neck and also spine issue. It has to be this kind of chiroproctor (UNCCA)..Upper Cervical Chiropractor. I have been dealng with the same issues he has been the only one who has helped. I have spoken to others with the same problems and has told me that they were given there life back by going to an Upper Cervical Chiropractor.
Please give it a try I believe you will be very suprised what they can do.
PS I have try every kind of Doctor there is? This is the best.
Good Luck

| my ears feel weird i had post concussion and then they said dissociation I agree with. Then now panic dissorder I don't agree with nor do other specialists. The doc thought I had vetigo 2 1?2 yrs ago so gave me some med to try for 2 weeks and I could not handle more than a week for it messed me right up. Put me in some sort of trance and I have never come out of it fully so hard to deal with. If anything this may be the dissociation or symptoms like it for I was fine on the mental front till I tried this med. MY ears though feel so odd like I dont know if full, blocked empty for I have never had problems with them but it really freaks me out ,like i wanna grab them to feel better. I have a neuro appt soon so hopefully they can check it out. Oh i forgot I have almost chronic hed aches , more so pressure in my head like as when u h ave a hangover and someone were to squeeze your head well the feeling though I am hydrated and hardly drink. I also get very cold ears when excersicing and then get dizzy and head aches from back of head to sides. I get very dizzy if passenger of vehicle or movement like "amusemnet park" I will never go there again. Any answers. |

You have to try the home remedy described at www.earadicator.com It is amazing and really works to clear clogged or blocked inner ears like you describe.
It is not blood in your ear but mucus or sinus fluid. |
