Hi, I am 15 years old, I would like to do some body piercing… belly button and eyebrows, I told to my parents and they were like ok, but they scared me with infections and dieses from piercing. Is it true?
They are right in some way. If the piercer washes his/her hands and uses gloves and sterile equipment and you take good care of your piercing, the risk of infection is lowered, but exists. You CAN get a serious infection including HIV, if the piercing equipment hasn't been sterilized properly and the thing is the infection may also happen later, even after the piercing has healed. My advice to you is if the studio uses a piercing "gun" to do body piercing… don’t! Piercing guns cannot be sterilized!
