If you dont want to be with him then you shouldn't be. There isnt much point... the relationship wont go anywhere and the longer it takes to break up with him the more it will hurt him. just talk to him, tell him you have something else to concentrate on, work studying... whatever, or tell him you want to be single. either way its probably best you end it. you could always tell him the truth... it might hurt him for a bit but at least he'd know the truth. Very Happy
Whatever happens do what you think is best and think about yourself and what you want.

Ah yes, good ole peer pressure, lol. This is only my opinion, so take it for what it is worth, OK. From reading your post, I am assuming you are still very young because you mention 'going out' with him and a few other things which lead me to believe that. But, no matter what your age is, its only been 2 1/2 weeks that this is going on? That is nothing! I think honesty is the best policy.
So, you were friends with him prior to this? Simple. Just wait til the next time you either talk on the phone, or see one another, and tell him, flat out, something like, "I've been thinking - we've been friends for a while now, so why don't we just keep it that way - as friends, and nothing more, OK?" How you say it is up to you, thats just some example I made up. But really, you don't owe him a single thing - no explanation necessary, nothing at all is required here other than simple honesty. Its not you're problem if he is not mature enough to accept your decision and is 'hurt' by it! He'll get over it! If he makes a big deal over it, just say, "well, gotta go now, bye." I wouldn't even think twice about it. Just do it, and don't feel the least bit bad, or sorry about it. And it is as simple as that. No drama is necessary, no discussion, no explanations, nothing. Just do it, and be done with it.
hth.
