Hi. I am a 29 year old woman who just went through a brachial cleft cyst removal surgery. I was diagnosed with this when I was an infant. The option given to my mom was to remove it or leave it. The doctor suggested leaving it which she did. The cyst did not cause any problems until last year. To the individual worried about her surgery, it's not as terrible as I thought it would be. The cyst was very large, the size of a baseball, so my incision was around 5 inches. The surgeon insists that the scar will be hardly noticeable in a year.
