Britain first to get a new wonder drug that busts fats

Rimonabant aka Acomplia is a new drug marketed only for weight loss although it has other characteristics like decreasing nicotine cravings, reducing health problems and diabetes that go along with obesity.

Britain is the first country to receive and try the drug as about 20% of the British inhabitants are the possible candidates. The drug is aimed for those who are obese or overweight and at increased risk of diabetes type 2 and is supposed to reduce bodyweight by up to 10%. In Britain, every fifth inhabitant is clinically obese.

The drug will cost around £55.20 per patient per month, or £1.97 per tablet.
Over six thousand people participated in the trials across Europe and The States. About one quarter of them managed to lose more than 10% of their initial body weight and reduce their size of approximately six to seven centimeters after one year of taking the pills.

Not only did they lose weight but they managed to get their glucose, cholesterol and triglyceride levels under control.

After Britain come Irish Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany and Norway to test the drug. They will be expecting it later this year.
