Posted: 11/28/06 - 05:12 Post subject: Bronchitis and Swollen Throat?! |
hello, i have had bronchitis for 3 weeks. just 3 to 4 days ago my throat started to swell or at least thats how it feels. it hard to take pills andeat or drink, basically anything involved with swallowing. i went to the doctor yesturday, and they didn't comment on it. it feels like it's right below my adams apple. It gets worse everytime i go into a coughing fit. i am scared to sleep, as i don't want to end of sufocating myself. is there anything i can do to get the swelling to go down?
i am currently taking Codal-DH and Z-Pack Antibiotics. and they gave me some steroid shot at the doctor to help my lungs.
any help is apprciated. |

| I have had the exact same thing happen. I was diagnosed with acute bronchitis about 3 weeks ago. Was on ampicillin and a steroid as well, along with an inhaler. I woke up the past two saturdays with phlem stuck in my throat and I felt as though I couldn't breath and was suffocating. My husband thought I was having an asthma attack, but the Dr. said it was my throats natural reaction to "close up" since phlem is going into my windpipe. Now I feel as though my throat is swollen, and I have a numb-like feeling. I am going back to the Dr. this afternoon to get a throat culture done. It is scaring me to go to sleep at night as well, and I feel like my trachea is swollen. I will let you know what they say. |

Posted: 02/08/07 - 09:31 Post subject: throat/tongue pain bronchitis |
| I got a sore throat/cold almost 2 weeks ago and was told almost a week ago that I had bronchitis. Two nights ago I started taking Tussionex so that the coughing would not keep me up. However, both nights that I took it, I woke up at 4am with horrible throat and tongue pain. It is different than the sore throat pain/burning I had with the cold. Am I reacting to the medicine or is this just what happens when you are getting over bronchitis? It hurts to move my tongue or swallow. |
