Brown dischanrge caused by pregnancy, pills or post abortion

For the past 2 months I have had brown vaginal discharge a week before my period. I called my gyno and had my birth control switched and now I have the discharge 2 1/2 weeks before Im supposed to get my period. I have been pregnant before, and it doesnt feel like I am now, but I didnt carry the pregnancy full term, I had an abortion. Am I pregnant now, is this from the abortion or is it just from the pills? The discharge doesnt have a strong smell until a few days before my period and then my period only lasts a few days. whats going on?

It is hard to say but according to the period of spotting I would say you were bleeding around ovulation. It is certainly not pregnancy since it’s been happening for 2 months already, I don’t think it’s from abortion because there’s a pattern in bleeding, it could be the pills if you have just started taking them but it could also be cysts on ovaries that often cause breakthrough bleeding, bleeding around ovulation, cramping around ovulation, pain during sex, etc

Also, some women experience bleeding during ovulation, which is called mittelschmerz.
It is actually more associated with abdominal pain around ovulation but bleeding/spotting is common as well.
Maybe you should be checked for uterine polyps and fibroids, to see if there’s a physical cause of your bleeding.
