Brown spotting at time of period

Hey ladies i need some help

I have had brown spotting for 5 days now which started the day my period was due. Normally my period is only 2 1/2 days long.
The first couple days the spotting was really light and kind of watery and was only in the morning but today its a little heavier but over a period of 6 hours it was only enough to half fill a tampon.
I took a HPT yesterday afternoon and it was negative. I know if your hormones aren't high enough you will get a negative reading.

Has anyone else had this brown spotting for this many days and still ended up being pregnant?

I have been off of my BCP for 4 months now and i would love it if i was pregnant. My fiance and I did have sex at the time i was due to ovulate.
ANY ADVICE WOULD BE NICE!
