I have just becoming sexually active and recently I have been feeling a burning sensation after I pee. It lasts about a few seconds and I was wondering if anyone knew information that may help figure out why that happens?
Hello! It is quite possible that you contracted a bacterial infection in the urinary tract. This is not sexually transmitted disease although it occurs to many women who have just lost their virginities (had sex for the first time), who had sex with a new partner, or had sex with their partner after a long time.
The infection is often called “honeymoon cystitis”. The infection occurs as a result of irritation of the urethra during intercourse. There may be bladder infection as well.
The main irritant is bacteria E. coli that lives in the bowels and passes to the vagina and urethral opening by unclean fingers, penis that have been in the anus.
Also women who wipe from back to front (anus to vagina) are more prone to contracting the bacteria.
Treatment includes antibiotics and for that reason you need to see a doctor.
If you don’t want to tell your parents you had sex, this infection can be caught without having sex, so you can freely report burning sensation but make sure you see a gyn alone.
