Caregiver burnout is a state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion. It may be accompanied by a change in attitude, from positive and caring to negative and unconcerned. Burnout can occur when caregivers don't get the help they need, or if they try to do more than they are able, so they may experience fatigue, stress, anxiety, and depression. They often are so busy caring for others that they tend to neglect their own emotional, physical, and spiritual health and other factors that can lead to caregiver burnout include: role confusion, unrealistic expectations, lack of control, unreasonable demands …other factors.

| Going along with the previous post. Some caregiver "work" should be changed every three years as burnout in common. As well, a caregiver should have a support mechanism available called debriefing with fellow service providers. This assists as an outlet. |
