I found all the posts related to this subject very informative. I can say with 100 percent certainty that alcohol effects the joints in a negative fashion. I have experienced it time and time again. The dehydration factor (only a guess) leads the way for me in the most negative effect of vast alcohol consumption or binge drinking. If someone educated on the subject could please divulge and accurate information relating dehydration due to alcohol consumption and joint pain, I would be eternally greatful.

Hey! I'm sorry to see no one has replied, because the same thing happens to me too! Except it happens 2-4 hours later instead of the very next day.

I was reading about joint pain after drinking. Not sure about all alcohol, but wine has sulfites and upon a small amount of research discovered that often it a reaction to the sulfite that is causing the inflamation.

Everyone I tell about the knee pain I get the day after drinking gives me the weird eye. Good to know I'm not just imagining things!

I get severe dry knuckles within hours of drinking and moderate-intense knee joint pain the day after, and it has lasted up to a week. I've found that I can drink endless amounts of water, post-alcohol, and it is only moderately helpful. When I couple drinking a glass of water for every 2 alcoholic drinks and taking a b-complex vitamin (I've read alcohol depletes thiamine(b1) & pyridoxine(b6) levels) before bed or the day after, my symptoms are drastically reduced or nullified.

Okay so I have joint pain every time I drink to an excess which is not too often. I thought it was because I was dancing and wearing heels all night. However last night I had too much to drink and I was wearing flip flop. I am having really bad pain in my knees and hips...so i looked up the affects of alcohol and joint pain and found this site....good to know its not the heals....bad to know its alcohol induced...it really hurts I have been up since 2:30 and cant go back to sleep b/c of the pain

Its called dehydration......your body is out of water.......drink water the next day or after your done........what do you think is coming out when you pee 1000 times when drinking...water...which leads to your joints hurting.

I also have alcohol-related knee pain and I've wondered about it for years. I am glad to know I am not the only one.

It doesn't happen every time I drink, and I am not a big drinker anyways. But perhaps once or twice a year for the last 10 years I will wake up around 3 or 4 in the morning after having a couple of drinks to excruciating knee pain. It goes away with 2 Advil and then I can get back to sleep.

I am not double-jointed, and it doesn't happen regularly. It also doesn't seem to be related to the amount I drink or to how hydrated I am. I wonder if it has more to do with the sulfites that are present to some degree in all wines and most beers. I know that I am sensitive to these because I sometimes have breathing difficulty after drinking wine.

It seems that the only solution is to not drink alcohol. Oh well!
