A friend of mine recently has diagnosed chronic regional pain syndrome. It is not exactly known what caused this disease. My friend is 46 years old woman and was always in god shape. Sometimes she complained on arthritis pain, but it has happened to be crps. Please tell me something about prognosis of this disease. She has pain in legs and swelling, sometimes associated with redness and sweating.
The fact is that very often cause of CHRONIC REGIONAL PAIN SYNDROME is unknown. This syndrome can be caused by triggering of the immune system. That is exactly what the symptoms are like, swelling, warmth and redness of affected area that can be arms, legs or feet. Treatment is based on relieving symptoms of crps. Topical analgesic ointments, corticosteroids, physical therapy are some of treatments that are used in crps, but there is no drug that improves complete improvement. Prognosis varies from patient to patient and depends on general condition and immunity.
